THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOLD PLATED, ROLLED GOLD, GOLD FILLED AND SOLID GOLD

Solid Gold

The best and most elegant kind of jewellery. Solid Gold is hypoallergenic and does not tarnish. It retains its value and lasts forever, hence its price tag.

Gold Filled

The next best thing after solid gold. Gold filled jewellery has an actual layer of real gold pressure  bonded to a base metal. It is extremely durable due to its thick layer of gold that will not wear and will last for years to come. Gold Filled is not the same as Gold Plating. It is much more valuable and tarnish resistant

Gold Plated

Gold plated jewellery is assembled with a thin layer of gold over a non-gold metal. Gold plated jewellery is most affordable due to the minimal amount of gold used. This is a very affordable option for many.

SOLID GOLD is the most durable, valuable and least irritating to those that have allergies to base metals.

Solid Gold is also more expensive than plated or filled metals.

GOLD PLATED pieces are a more affordable alternative, however they only contain a tiny amount of gold and friction may cause the plating to eventually rub off. Most base metals used in Gold Plated jewellery may also stain skin.

ROLLED GOLD jewellery has a lot more gold than Gold Plated jewellery. The thicker layer of gold in Rolled Gold makes it much more durable.

GOLD FILLED pieces are much more longer lasting than Plated or Rolled Gold and much more durable. They are an excellent alternative to Solid Gold and is considered the next best thing.

STAINLESS STEEL

Grade 316 or 304 Stainless Steel is often used in jewellery. Stainless Steel has a high polished mirror sheen that adds to the rich look of the pieces. It also comes in 18K Gold or Rose Gold plating. The same plating is used over Sterling Silver, known as Vermeil.

925 STERLING SILVER

Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% silver, and the remaining part usually consists of copper.

Silver needs to be combined with other metals.  The copper adds strength to the piece to prevent the jewellery from bending or changing shape. Sterling Silver also comes in 18K Gold  and Rose Gold plating, also known as Vermeil.

SILVER FILLED

Silver filled is an actual layer of 925 Silver pressure bonded to another metal like copper.

Silver filled is not to be confused with silver plating as it is much more valuable and tarnish resistant.

WHAT IS RHODIUM?

Rhodium is a precious metal. All silver coloured jewellery is plated in Rhodium. This includes Sterling Silver and White Gold, except Stainless Steel. The silver colour of Stainless Steel is not plated, this is  just the colour of the Stainless Steel.

CAN I SHOWER WITH MY JEWELLERY ON?

WARRANTY

Ayapi Jewellery offers a Six (6) month manufacturers warranty from the date of purchase for all Made to Order Custom items. A Three (3) month manufacturers warranty from the date of purchase is offered for all Non - Custom items. Warranty entitles the consumer to a replacement of the same product.

All of our jewellery is of a delicate nature and care must be taken when worn.

It is important to follow the Care Instructions published on our website and on the Care Card sent out with every purchase for your warranty to be applicable.

Proof of purchase must be retained for warranty to be valid. Your emailed invoice is all the proof you need!

Warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover discolouration, scratches or damage from wear & tear or lost items.

The warranty is void if accidental damage has occurred, or if your piece has come into contact with any moisture or wetness of any kind, including contact with skin lotions, hand sanitisers, soap, cleaning products or perfume.

Jewellery pieces exposed to moisture or acidic skin types (this is determined by one’s own body chemistry) will discolour at a much faster rate if care is not taken.

Scratches are not considered a manufacturing defect. This may occur from everyday wear and tear.

All jewellery pieces will be assessed carefully before a replacement piece is provided.

EXCHANGES

We will happily replace items if they are defective or damaged, but not for change of mind or incorrect choice. Please read the product descriptions and view images carefully. We try to be as detailed as possible in our descriptions to avoid disappointments.

REFUNDS

Refunds are issued for jewellery that arrives faulty on arrival & when provided with photographic evidence. The delivery date from Australia Post will be used for proof of delivery date.  Refunds will only be issued within 48hrs of that delivery date.
